Often times we are lead to believe there are only a few areas inside of the music industry where you can make money in...here are a few tips and suggestions to think about when looking at helping your business to grow.
Step one: Establishing what retailers will fit best alongside of your music, or product...for instance if I am a death metal band that promotes for my own form of cult idealism, than Bed Bath and Beyond is probably not going to want to distribute my product. A store specializing in certain aspects or demographics that my traffic can relate to are going to be the ones which are more likely to carry my product.
Step two: After establishing which stores maybe good targets for the product, than you will need to develop some sales material about your business that explains more about yourself (or group) and how you fit into their model. The more information like statistics and marketing plans are going to be more valuable than understanding the beginning and struggles of the individual or band, this is not the typical one page information sheet, it should include the "why" should we place it into our store information more than anything.
